This is a pixelated image made from hundreds of pieces of plastic squares. The image could easily have been produced from a photo-shopped photograph and a mosaic filter but I wanted to try and compose the picture by using a photograph and my eye to judge the various shades of grey to black. I made the tiles and there are approximately 30 different shades. It was an experiment really to see if I could make a reasonable portrait of Tom from this limited pallete. The original photo was of Tom in the local Sainsburys supermarket, standing next to the shelves of Cambells soup.
