Red Orange White                                               Coloured Polyester Resins on Board                                               each 36 x 55cm

The material used for these and many of my paintings is Polyester resin, which is coloured with the addition of pigments. I spend quite a lot of time removing the resin by sanding. Sometimes its done by hand but more often than not this is preceded by hours of electrical sanding with a palm sander. Its dead time and its dead boring even though I try my best to mull things over in my head. The sound of the sander though, is strong and persistent, its not long before Ive been hijacked and I discover that Im repeating words in my mind and matching their sounds to the sound that the sander makes. I've had trouble with words like Weapons of Mass Destruction, Butros Butros Gali and Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Here's a tip: If like me, you only have limited control over your mind - don't listen to the radio early in the morning!
There's maths in these pictures.
