On the Go

Painting and other projects that sometimes include painting, for me often involve activity, large amounts of it. The work is usually mucky with dust and fume all about and with me clad in a mask that leaves me red and lined. The labour is OK, its a means to an end, it can feel like progress and I'm justified in doing what I do.

Sometimes its pure joy when ideas that have loitered around start to be laid down or when the final piece starts to materialise and I can really see that its possibly what I intended, or, if I'm luckier still its suprisingly even better!

Getting side tracked can be a problem. The discovery of something old or discarded brings new ideas and a new direction. A project that involves reusing or recycling materials in a new way sometimes seems as satisfying as a great painting.

I think that being creative is a fundamental activity for me - probably it is for everyone. Behind the wheel I'm most dangerous when I see a skip!
